The salvation of species, involving the protection of the environment, is more focused on large mammals, called “charismatic megafauna” (Marak J. Plotkin). Plotkin (1988) has shown that any attempt to save Pandas bears would be disastrous if no measures were taken to save the species of bamboo they eat. If there is a real intention to save Brazilian native trees, they need to pollinate their flowers. Pollination is one of the most important items for the conservation of this environment and bees play a fundamental role in this context. They account for 38% of world plant pollination. INPA has been working in defense of nature and life, especially in the poor communities of the Amazon. Our work is aimed at the development of techniques in connection with scientific information and practical bee management. It is necessary to know more about the biology and genetics of the “stingless bees” to perpetuate this species through the home hives.
